Ceviche with raw Atlantic Salmon

  • Ingredients:
  • 300g raw salmon, diced
  • 1 red onion, finely chopped
  • 1 chili pepper, finely chopped (optional, if you like spicy dishes)
  • 1/2 cup lime juice (about 4-5 limes)
  • 1 tomato, peeled and diced
  • 1 cucumber, peeled and diced
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • Avocado slices for serving (optional)
  • Fresh cilantro leaves for garnish

Instructions:

Place the diced raw salmon in a bowl. Add the chopped onion, chili pepper (if using), lime juice, and salt. Mix well. Set the mixture aside in the refrigerator for about 20-30 minutes to allow the salmon to "cook" in the lime juice. Meanwhile, gently stir the mixture a few times. Add the diced tomato, cucumber, and chopped cilantro to the bowl with the marinated salmon. Gently mix. Season the ceviche with salt and pepper to taste. You can add more lime juice if you prefer a more tangy flavor. Serve the ceviche with avocado slices (if using) and fresh cilantro leaves for garnish. You can serve ceviche as an appetizer or main dish, for example, with rice or crispy tortillas. Enjoy!

Note: Make sure you use fresh salmon and that all the ingredients are well mixed before serving. Ceviche is best enjoyed fresh, so consume it within a few hours of preparation.
